The weekend

Saturday we were up bright and early and left the house at 7:30 am. We picked up my friend Dianna and her son Jamie who is a cub scout and her daughter Samantha. Then we met up with the other parents heading over to the Pinewood Derby. Apprently our Stake either doesn't have a track or nobody gets it for our ward to use. As far as I know our scouts have always gone over to the district Derby with out having one in our own ward first. This definetly is not what I grew up doing with my brothers. We got there got registered then proceeded to wait for another hour before anything got started. Very frustrating. The girls were really good and could run around and play, but Ethan didn't feel good and he was a little more difficult. Oh I also forgot to mention that we met Chris at the interstate and he followed us over the rest of the way to Pulaski. Anyway, Noah's car was only weighing in at 3.6 ounces. You have up to 5 ounces. So we borrowed some glue from some other people and glued on another quarter and dime. But that only put him up to 3.9. The boys had made their cars at scouts one night and so we had no help in getting him ready for this. Needless to say he was out after the first round of racing. He lost twice and came in 2nd once. Can you tell which picture that is. The girls had fun watching the cars run down the track. I had to keep pulling them back. We got home about 1 o'clock. It was Noah's first year and after he got over his dissappointment he had fun running around playing with everyone else and cheering for Jamie. He has a tendency to be a sore looser, so he actually did really well with his as he called it "flunked out after the first round". Sunday was the usual and here we are at the start of a new week. Ethan is pretty congested still. He got a blessing on Sunday and is doing a little better. Still blowing snot bubbles out his nose. He has cut his first tooth this weekend. Can't believe he is 8 months already. I guess that is the update for this week.

Well, the weather finally cooperated and I was able to get out and till the garden spot. I only went over it one time then had to rake up all the grass into piles. I still have the piles to dispose of. But the ground has been broken. There is more wet weather coming today and cooler temps this weekend. Hopefully I can get more tilling done next week. I also mowed the front and back yard, made dinner to take into a family at church. I have a cub camp meeting tonight then I think I'll be ready to fall into my bed.

Weekend Update

We had a great Conference Weekend. Saturday I watched the first half of the first session, through all the sustainings. It was really neat. The I packed up the kids and headed to my friend Trudy's house. I went to pick up my newest scrap booking toy and then we went into Huntsville to shop. I wanted to get all the kids out of the house so that Chris could get some homework done inbetween sessions. We all had a great time. We didn't make it back in time for the second sessions but while I was driving around I called home on the cell phone and told Chris to hold the phone up to the computer speakers so we could listen to the talks. It worked good till we got on the highway and then it was to noisy in the car to hear very well. Chris got a big report done that he needed to get out of the way while we were gone. Chris then went to the Priesthood Session. After that he went to help give a blessing. Sunday morning we headed to the Argo's about 9:30. I loaded up my scrapping stuff but didn't get much done. We watched both sessions, which were enjoyable. Noah watched all the sessions for the first time. He did really good for being only 8 years old. We had dinner and cake and ice cream because my sister Kimberly had a birthday last Thursday. We talked and visited and then headed home by about 7:45, got home about 8:30 and put the kids straight to bed. Me, Noah, Amelia, and Ethan seem to have some kind of spring cold. Our noses are clogged and we have a cough. Hope it doesn't last long. Anyway, that was our conference weekend. I hope you enjoyed your weekend.

Finally he is quiet

I think Ethan is teething. At least that is what I'm telling my self as an excuse for his crankiness. Yesterday he never seemed to be satisfied. I had set him up in his high chair to play, but he kept fussing. I gave him some food and after that he fussed. So finaly I made a bottle and gave it to him. The way he reached out for it you'd think he'd been starving for days or something. I was helping Noah with homework and went to check on him and found him like this. I was able to get him into his bed with out waking him up. Phew!!

Story Time

One of the things Noah does every day for home work is reading. Yesterday Ethan was very fussy and I was busy so Noah picked him up and put him on his lap and read his home work story to Ethan. Ethan kept trying to get the book. It stopped his crying and they both seemed to enjoy it very much. Noah has really bonded with Ethan over the last 2 months. I think now that Ethan interacts more Noah has really taken to him. He gets him up out of his bed, will change his diaper (as long as it's not a stinky one) and will play with him and talk and sing to him. I hope they will be good friend despite the age difference.

Ethan's 1st Big Boy Bath

Up till now, whenever I have bathed Ethan, I just lay him in the tub and run water, clean him up and get him out, never letting the tub fill up. Well last night, Amelia didn't want to take a bath with Eve. So Eve took one by her self and I put Ethan in with Amelia. Now that he is very steady sitting up I felt comfortable having a couple of inches of water in there. Amelia thought it was great. Ethan's bottom lip quivered for a few minutes then he got comfortable and started checking out the water and toys. I even layed him on his belly to see what he'd do. He has always liked taking his baths and last night turned out no different. I can't believe how big he is already. He is one cute little boy. I love his blue eyes. I can't wait to scrap book these.

We didn't blow away

The wind is still blowing outside but lots better today than yesterday. I watched a friends son who is about 2 years younger than Noah yesterday. I decided to load everyone up and go to the playground at Noah's school since they are all out on spring break. The kids had a blast and I got some exercise. They have a paved track around the play ground. No matter where I was I could see them. Of coarse I forgot my camera. By the time we dropped Wyatt off and got back home we looked like we'd stood outside while a hurricane passed by. The wind was blowing constantly at about 20-30 miles an hour. Well maybe not constantly at 20-30, but it gusted that high A LOT. I felt like I had wind burn on my cheeks. Today has been more rain and more wind. But tomorrow is supposed to be sunny. I had my heat off the last 2 days and it got to warm in here while I was making dinner I opened up some windows. It has cooled off quite a bit. I made home made chicken pot pies. I don't know if the kids have ever had the ones from the store. I had the tins and left over veggies so I gave it a try. Eve really enjoyed helping with the rolling pin. Noah eventually came in and wanted to help. He was our cutter, cutting off the excess dough. Mia was sleeping during it all. We had some black berry pie filling and made 2 small blackberry pies. They all turned out perfect. YUM!!!
